SOS International LLC Legal Services Coordinator in Cambridge, Massachusetts

Overview

SOSi is currently seeking a Legal Coordinator to join our team in Cambridge, Massachusetts supporting a humanitarian assistance project for our Commonwealth customer. The Legal Coordinator will play a crucial role in assisting guests with their immigration cases and providing vital support in managing their legal needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of immigration processes and a commitment to providing compassionate and effective support to individuals navigating the complexities of the legal system.

Essential Job Duties

  • Assist shelter guests in tracking the progress of their immigration cases.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all case activities and communications.

  • Ensure timely follow-up on case developments and required actions.

  • Provide referrals to appropriate legal service providers based on guests' needs.

  • Track and monitor the status of referrals to ensure guests receive timely and effective assistance.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with legal service providers and community organizations.

  • Assist shelter guests in managing their USCIS online accounts.

  • Provide legal information on completing and submitting required forms and documents, ensuring there is no unauthorized practice of law.

  • Conduct initial assessments of guests' legal needs and provide appropriate information and resources.

  • Advocate on behalf of guests with legal service providers as needed.

  • Offer compassionate and culturally sensitive support to guests throughout the legal process.

  • Prepare and submit regular reports on case status, referrals, and outcomes.

  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

  • Ensure all activities comply with legal and organizational standards.

  • Implement best practices in case management and guest support.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, legal studies, or a related field, or four (4) years of experience in legal services, immigration assistance, or case management.

  • Experience working with vulnerable populations is highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of immigration laws and processes.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.

  • Proficient in using case management software and online USCIS tools.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Bilingual or multilingual skills preferred.
