SOSi is seeking a Medium Voltage Electrical Supervisor to support a large Facility Operations & Maintenance (O&M) program to our U.S. government customer in Iraq. The ideal candidate will have experience working on other large facility O&M programs in contingency environments.

Essential Job Duties

  • The Medium Voltage Electrical Supervisor will be responsible for taking ownership of all facility electrical projects, to include maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and related task order electrical projects. The duties and responsibilities listed are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.

  • Maintain a safe workplace and ensure safety is the highest priority in the workplace.

  • Comply with all Environmental & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals. Provide information and materials to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation.

  • Perform work required for the repair, maintenance, installation, and modernization of electrical systems for site building’s equipment.

  • Locate and determine electrical malfunctions using testing equipment.

  • Repair malfunctions by such methods as replacing burned out elements, fuses and replacing defective wiring, cleaning, repairing, or replacing motors.

  • Test electrical equipment such as motors, heaters and controls for safety and efficiency, using standard testing equipment and by observing functions.

  • Install fixtures, wiring conduits, motors, and other electrical equipment.

  • Inspect circuits for specified shielding and grounding.

  • Report any malfunctions or lack of compliance with the SOW to the Assistant Operations Manager.

  • Perform inspections and prepare written reports.

  • Maintain effective, timely and respectful communication and interaction with other employees and manager and support other organizations.

  • Perform administrative tasks when directed, including material ordering, inventory, work scheduling and report preparation.

  • Responsible for facility custodianship of work area and management of tools, equipment and spare parts for the electrical operation.

  • Take initiative to analyze a situation and make frequent technical decisions based on specifications, safety, and electrical codes.

  • Promote a culture and focus on Safety in all performance tasks and areas.

  • Oversee and participate in incident, or mishap investigations as required. Provide support for root cause analysis, corrective actions, preventative measures, and/or hazard control modification updates.

  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Active in Scope U.S. Government (USG) issued Secret security clearance or Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) or be able to obtain a favorable MRPT certification or US Government clearance prior to being hired is required for the position. Must maintain eligibility at the required clearance level for the duration of the task order.

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Completion of a four- or five-year Electrical Apprenticeship Program.

  • Fluency in the English language (reading, speaking, writing).

  • Good verbal and written communication skills to direct employees, prepare reports for upper management and facilitate/disseminate information.

  • Five (5) years’ electrical experience in operations and maintenance services.

  • Three (3) years’ experience in an international environment.

  • Experience working with SOW, electrical diagrams, and blueprints.

  • Previous supervisory experience.

  • Knowledge of applicable U.S. codes and acceptable trade practices.

  • Previous electrical experience in an international environment with a multi-national workforce.

  • Knowledge and experience regarding occupational hazards of the electrical trade, related safety precautions and considerable skill required for the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment.

  • Must have good organizational and communication skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions.

  • Knowledge of principles and processes involved in supporting contract responsibilities at an overseas facility.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Ability to become an active and functioning member of a team.

  • Ability to be innovative and be an agent for change.

  • Expert communication skills to facilitate and disseminate information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge in the discipline of operations and maintenance projects in an international environment.

  • Previous international experience and previous work experience in harsh environmental conditions are a plus.

  • Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective.

  • Fluency in a foreign language is desirable, but not required.

Work Environment

  • Indoor and outdoor environments.

  • Contingency operations environment, in a harsh climate, and often hazardous situations. While performing the duties of this contract, may regularly be exposed to an extreme and austere desert environment. Temperatures can reach 120 – 130 degrees Fahrenheit/50 – 55 degrees Celsius during the summer months.

  • Must be willing and able to perform job requirements in this environment, as well as deploying to Iraq for extended periods.

  • Requires periods of non-traditional working hours including consecutive nights or weekends when necessary.

  • May be performing physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors.

  • Must be able to move quickly to cover during security alarms. This includes being able to lift, carry and/or wear forty (40) pounds of personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time and being capable of running during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.

  • Must maintain physical and dental requirements for duration of deployment.

  • Work could include assignments, or, visits to multiple sites – either temporarily, or, long term – in remote, or, austere locations.
